15 Top Beautiful Verses About Flowers In The Bible

This post is all about flowers in the Bible and their symbolic meaning of new beginnings, God's provision, God's promises, human life, spiritual growth, God's care, God's love, and simply the beauty of God and creation.

It is summertime, and we have just come back from vacation. It is always amazing to me how, when you take the time to get away, your perspective changes in response to the world around you.

Do you ever notice that when you are not so focused on the daily grind, you stop and notice the details?

If only we would pause each day to notice the beauty of God's creation. The fragrant flower, the details of each petal, and the beauty of the colors are unmatched.

What do you think of when you see the beauty of flowers?

One thing flowers remind me of is my mom.  It seemed that flowers made her so happy and gave her joy. I have always loved flowers, especially the intricate details of the petals and the incredible fragrance of different flowers. For me, one of my favorite smells is being in a flower garden and taking in the sweet aroma of all the flowers. That is God, not only does He give us eyes to see the beauty, but the sense of smell to soak it all in.

What if you intentionally began to think not only about the beauty of a flower but also about the deeper meanings, like God's love for you?

Flowers in the Bible

Flowers in the Bible are not decorations.

The Lord does not waste words in the Bible. Every word carries weight and is a lesson. The use of flowers in the Bible is no exception.

What if, when you see a flower, you begin to change your perspective on creation and humanity? Every word of our God is powerful. The imagery of flowers in the Bible is no different.

The Holy Bible is a gift. It is a guide for life. It is truth. As Isaiah 40:6-8 reminds us,  “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

I encourage you to get into God's word daily, and as my pastor says, if you miss reading scripture one day, try not to miss it the next. When you read the Word of the Lord daily, you will see spiritual growth. But don't stop there. Talk to the Lord and pray. Have faith and trust Him. He wants a personal relationship with YOU! Jesus cares for you and loves YOU!

God's care for us is so deep. He left us creation all around us as powerful reminders and symbols of the love He has for you and me.

Flowers are among the powerful symbols of His love, promise, and the fleeting nature of life. Flowers are also used as reminders of renewal and humanity.

I challenge you, the next time you see a flower, stop and notice its glorious beauty, and be reminded of God's provision, spiritual truths, and God's love for YOU!

Come with me, and let's look at 15 verses about flowers in the Bible.

Flowers in the Bible

As you read, look at how God's word uses flowers for life lessons. Flowers, like life, are beautiful but fleeting. Flowers remind us that human life is temporary, but the Word of God is forever. Jesus gives us a life lesson to trust Him. If He takes care of a flower with such care, the beautiful details that are here for a day, how much more will He take care of you? These verses are powerful reminders of God's promises.

Have faith and trust in Jesus. Matthew 17:20 (NLT)“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

1. Song of Songs 2:1 (NIV)

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.

2. Matthew 6:28-30 (NIV)

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

3. Isaiah 40:6-8 (NIV)

A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

4. Job 14:1-2 (NIV)

“Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble. They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.

5. James 1:10-11 (NIV)

But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

6. Psalm 103:15-16 (NIV)

The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

7. Isaiah 35:1-2 (NIV)

The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord , the splendor of our God.

8. Numbers 17:8 (NIV)

The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.

9. Micah 4:4 (NIV)

Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken.

10. Hosea 14:5-6 (NIV)

I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.

11. Song of Songs 2:12-13 (NIV)

Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig trees are forming young fruit, and the fragrant grapevines are blossoming. Rise up, my darling! Come away with me, my fair one!”

12. 1 King 6:29 (NIV)

On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers.

13. 1 King 6:35 (NIV)

He carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings.

14. Luke 12:22-32 (NIV)

Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?  “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

15. 1 Peter 1:24-25 (NIV)

For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

Flowers in the Bible are all throughout scripture.

If you have never read the Song of Songs, also known as the Song of Solomon, in the Old Testament, I encourage you to. Flowers are referenced throughout the book as symbols of romantic and divine love. It is a love story.

Flowers also appear in the New Testament parables, such as Matthew 13 and Mark 4, in the Parable of the Sower.

Flowers in the Bible

Flowers in the Bible teach lessons and serve as a reminder that God is faithful.

Flowers in the Bible symbolize new beginnings, God's provision, God's promises, human life, spiritual growth, God's care, God's love, and simply the beauty of God and creation.

God's word will never fail. Put your faith and trust in Christ Jesus, who loves you so much that He created the details of a beautiful flower for you to enjoy, and be reminded that God loves you.

Trust Him.

Have faith.

Don't waste your days.

Be intentional with each day, because the reality is your life is fleeting.

If you feel like your life is falling apart, look at a flower and be reminded that the Lord can take a seed, a barren flower bulb, and there is renewal and beauty that will come from it. The Lord can take your brokenness and hardship, and you will come out stronger and restored. The Lord is in the business of restoration. I am living proof of that. Have faith. Keep praying. Stop, smell the roses, and be reminded of God's love for you. Lean in and rest in Jesus today.

If you need some encouragement today, look at a flower because, like a little seed or flower bulb, for you there is hope, and His name is Jesus.

Flowers in the Bible

A prayer for you.

Lord, thank you for being Lord of my life. Help me to pause and see the beauty of your creation all around me. When I see flowers, remind me to trust you, that with you, nothing is impossible.  When worry creeps in, remind me how you clothe the fields and how much more you will care for me. I know life is short. I do not want to waste a single day and not miss a blessing you have for me. Lord, I want to stand on your promises and lean into You so I can rest in You. Thank you for being Lord of my life and for loving me. In Jesus name, Amen.

If you have never accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, He is waiting for you.

When you pray to Jesus, it is like talking to a friend.

He has already done all the work for you and paid the price on the cross. All He asks is that you believe from your heart and have faith.

You can invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior just as you are!

Lord, I come to you today as a sinner, and I invite you to come and live in my heart. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe you came to earth and lived a blameless life, were crucified on the cross, and shed your blood for me and my sins. You rose from the grave three days later and conquered death and ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me. Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, and that you left me the Holy Spirit to live in my heart. Help guide me, Lord, and show me my next steps. Thank you for loving me, for forgiving me, and for being my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
