I have spent hours trying to figure out how to create a website and begin a blog. These are the tools that I found to be most helpful and cost-effective for you to start your journey. As always, I encourage you to conduct your own research, but these are my recommendations.
To get started you will need a “host” for your self-hosted WordPress website.
I only recommend a self-hosted WordPress website because you will own your website and not “rent space.” You will begin your journey at WordPress.org, and just because it ends with .org, you can still own a .com website!
There are many hosting options that you can choose from to start your blogging journey. I highly recommend Bluehost. It is affordable, and packed with value. To get started, it is $3.99- less than a cup of coffee per month! There are three plans to choose from. I chose the business plan, which is a few dollars more at $6.99 per month. Still less than a cup of coffee! The Bluehost team has been AMAZING to work with! They are so helpful and just a phone call away when you have questions.
