Bible Verses About Letting Go Of Someone You Love

These are Bible verses about letting go of someone you love and how to apply them daily.

letting go of someone you love

Your heart is shattered into a million pieces. Letting go of someone you love can be one of the hardest things you do.

I write this because this exact season made an eternal difference in my life.

It is because I had to let go of my husband, the father of my three kids, my best friend, whom I met when I was 15 years old. We started dating when I was 17, got married, and divorced at 37.

I loved him with all my heart. Then one night, after we put our kids to bed, he shared his struggles. He was gay. I can remember that night like it was yesterday. How could the man I loved with every fiber of my body want a lifestyle that no longer included our family and me? And where was God?

You may be reading this because you have a broken heart too. Each story is different. Maybe it is the end of a friendship, losing someone who passed away, or you're the one doing the leaving. No matter what the situation, letting go of someone you love is never easy.

The pain is real, and I am so sorry.

There is a God of Hope, and His name is Jesus. The Lord may even have to carry you. I get it. It hurts. I would have been a ball on the floor if the Lord had not reached down with His right hand and picked me up and carried me each day.

It is the most difficult season I have walked through, but it changed me. It will change you.

Friend, this season might be what transforms your life.

Let's go to the Lord and look at our handbook, God's Word, the Holy Bible. God's guidance is truth.

1. Seek the Lord daily.

When you begin to seek the Lord daily, it changes your life. This means that as soon as you wake up, pray. Pray before your feet hit the ground, even if it is a short prayer.

Lord, be with me today. Guide my steps. I need you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Pray throughout the day. Cry out to the Lord. Allow Him to become your best friend. Be raw, honest, and real with your prayers, and don't forget to listen. Listen for the Holy Spirit's direction. What is your next step?

Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV): You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

2. Forgive.

Forgive them from your heart. This may be hard, but it is important.

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV): Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

3. Surrender.

When you give it all to the Lord, you will come out on the other side transformed, renewed, restored, and rebuilt. Keep looking ahead and keep your eyes on Jesus. Give it all to Him. Lay it at the cross, and if you pick it up again, lay it back down. You may have to do this several times in one day, or daily for a while, but surrender it all to the Lord.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV): “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

4. Find community.

Community is so important. If you do not have a church family, find one. You will need others to keep pouring God's truth over you and pointing you back to Jesus. You may want to seek some Christian counsel. I counseled weekly with my pastor and am so thankful for his guidance. I encourage you to find a Bible study, church, life group, and anything that points you back to Jesus.

Prayer is powerful. I would love to pray for you. If you would like prayer, you can fill out a prayer request on my Rooted In Prayer page. If you would like others to pray for you, indicate that, and I will put it on the prayer wall.

Letting go of someone I love became my testimony.

I wouldn't be sharing my faith if I hadn't walked through letting go of the one I loved. This website is a direct result of this season.

Before I walked through this season, we went to church every week, as I did throughout my childhood, but this season made Jesus real to me. God's love is real. My relationship with Jesus grew into an intimate relationship. I learned that we serve a Mighty God. Jesus became my rock, my fortress, my provider, my best friend, my everything. In this season, I began to feel the power of the Holy Spirit in my life.

What I learned through this is God's perfect love for me and a deeper faith. God is faithful. He takes hard times and turns them into good. His plans for you are bigger than what you can imagine. What I felt was impossible, He made possible. I learned that our timing is not God's timing. I never believed I could love again as I did, but now I have a husband who loves the Lord with a heart after Jesus, and I love him beyond words. God is so good!

Lean in, rest in the Lord, and trust Him! Have faith and keep the faith, because the Lord is faithful!

If you don't have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He is waiting for YOU! You can invite Him into your heart today.

He is a gentleman and will not force Himself on you. Salvation is a gift. You do not earn it. Jesus has already paid the price for you on the cross. He will meet you today, right where you are.

A Salvation prayer for you to invite Jesus to be Lord of your life.

Heavenly Father, I want you to be Lord of my life. I invite you into my heart today. I know I am a sinner, and I ask you to forgive my sins. I want to live a new life with you. I believe you came to earth, were crucified on the cross after living a blameless life, and shed your blood for me. Three days later, I believe you conquered death and rose from the grave. I believe you have ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me to live and to have eternal life with you. When you ascended to heaven, I believe you left the Holy Spirit to live in me and be my helper in this life. Lord, thank you for forgiving me of my sins. Thank you for loving me and giving me eternal life with you. Help me as I put my trust in You and walk with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If you just prayed this prayer, we are celebrating with you!

It was the most important decision of your life.

Life goes by fast, but eternity is forever, and you just became a citizen of Heaven!
