Searching For Clarity? Bible Verses About Being Confused
This post is about anchoring to God's truth with Bible Verses about being confused when life feels unclear.

Confusing thoughts have a way of questioning everything. You were once confident and are now unsure. Maybe your life suddenly feels like it is a constant state of confusion. You begin to question which decision is best. Life suddenly feels like a thick fog, and each day you do your best just to get through it. Life is hard.
You are searching and want clarity in your life.
When you find yourself in a state of confusion, you can go to close friends, but only when you go to Word of God, the Holy Bible, and to the Lord in prayer will you find the peace of God.
The Bible does not dismiss confusion. As a reminder, being in times of confusion does not mean you have a lack of faith; it is a time to seek God's guidance. The Lord will meet you right where you are. It is with prayer and God's word that you will begin to feel some inner peace.
The following verses have impacted me, and I pray they impact your life as well.
Come with me and let's look at Bible verses about being confused when life feels unclear.

When my life turned upside down, I was not sure where to turn or what to do. But it was during this time that the Lord did His best work in me. I learned who to anchor to and began to seek the Lord with my whole heart. I learned that clarity is not always instant, but God's presence is. I believe this season made an eternal difference in my life.
1 Peter 5:8 (NIV), Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Satan is on the prowl. When life is in chaos, or you are feeling confused, remember where it comes from.
Ephesians 6:12 (NIV), For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT), Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
In the Christian faith, God is not the author of confusion.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV), For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
This verse sticks with me, and my pastor would tell me over and over that God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace. Even when your world is in chaos, you will feel a peace that surpasses all understanding. It is that peace that is from God. The confusion is not.
When confusion sets in, go to the Lord in prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV), pray continually
In Scripture, we are told over and over to go to the Lord in prayer. It was not God's plan for you and me to carry all the burdens of this world. The Lord wants us to pray about everything, the small things and the big things.
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV), You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Life may feel unclear now. Give it to the Lord, lay it at the cross, and surrender it. See what happens when you stop, seek Him, and pray. Clarity might not be instant, but when you keep giving it to the Lord, watch what the Lord will do.
You might not have it all figured out today, but the Lord will work all things out for good. He wants you to give it to Him and trust Him!
When you are confused, stop, pray, and then ask the Lord for wisdom.
James 1:5 (NLT), If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
James 1:5 (NIV), If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
When I read and study the Bible, I like to look at different translations. I always find it helpful. I thought this verse might be clearer for you with both translations.
When you really stop and think about this, what a good God He is, when we can go ask Him for wisdom. He is not going to judge you or make you feel less than because you do not know what to do,
God invites you to ask Him for wisdom! What better source to go to than the Creator, the One who knows all, to ask for help and wisdom!
When you go to the Lord for wisdom, it is an act of trusting Him.
After you ask the Lord for wisdom, trust Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV), Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
He is faithful and is available for you, but the Lord wants you to go to Him and ask.
When my life felt so unclear and was turned upside down, I would pray this over and over. I could not make sense of anything, but this verse reminded me to trust in the Lord with all my heart, and He would make my path straight. It became my favorite Bible verse during this season.
This verse does not mean that things will be instantly clear; it means to trust Him for each step.
Psalm 119:105 (NIV), Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
What I learned was that this world is hard; things sometimes do not make sense, but God is so good and will make something good out of even the bad. Our timetable is not the Lord's, and sometimes a season can last forever in our eyes, but I learned that the Lord was right there with me and never left me! The Lord's wisdom may not look like what you thought, but when you put your trust in Him, His ways are always better!
When you look back on this time of confusion or uncertainty, you will see the Lord's fingerprints all over it. It might be where He opened up doors for you, or maybe orchestrated something that nonbelievers might believe was ‘a coincidence'. That is God working behind the scenes for YOU!
After you trust Him, you will begin to experience a peace that is not hinged on understanding and clarity of the situation.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV), Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When you begin to feel this peace, this peace will change you. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit for you. Even when you are in the middle of uncertainty, this peace will be in you. This is a peace that is only from God, because in this world it does not make sense. In your heart, you will want to give thanks, and the Lord is worthy of praise.
God is bigger than anything you are going through. He will guide you, guard your heart and your mind, and give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. He is faithful and walks with you when you invite the Lord.
Even when life feels confusing, the Lord is the Spirit of truth and gives you a sound mind.

1 John 4:1 (NIV), Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV), For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
God does not give us a spirit of fear. When you have fear, it magnifies confusion. That is not from the Lord. The Lord gives you power to act, love to lead with love and respond in love, and a sound mind to think without panic.
When life feels unclear, talk it out to the Lord. When you are praying to the Lord and talking it out, tell Satan this does not have power over you. It will not control you or keep you from moving forward.
As you pray this, ask the Lord for wisdom for the next step. You do not need the entire plan. Oftentimes, if we knew the entire plan, we might not move. The Lord will give you just enough light to take the next step.
A prayer for you.
Lord, I have no idea what to do, I do not understand _______, but I put my complete trust in You. I need You, Lord, please help me with clarity and wisdom for my next step. I am laying this at the cross and giving it to you. I trust You to guide me and show me the way. Please be with me, Lord, and give me the power to act as you want me to do, help me to lead with love and respond with love, and give me a sound mind and to think clearly as you want me to. I pray, Lord, that as I move forward, You shine through me and I am an example for You. I love you, Lord, and I thank You for never leaving me or forsaking me. Thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Amen.
This does not mean you will never feel confused again, but what it does mean is that it will not have power over you, and you are inviting the Lord to help guide you. He wants you to ask Him. Believe, trust, and have faith.
John 16:13 (ESV), When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Today begin to anchor yourself to the Lord and HIs promises.
Wait on the Lord, trust Him, and let Him renew your strength.
When life is chaotic, feels uncertain, or is unclear, it is exhausting to try to figure it all out. You were not made to carry this alone. As you keep putting it at the cross and asking for the Lord for your next step, ask for His strength.
Again, here are three of the same Bible verses, but different translations.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV), But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV), but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (NLT), But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
He promises you that when you wait, you hope, and trust in the Lord, you will find new strength.
While you are waiting on the Lord, read the Bible, pray, be with the Lord, and seek Him. Spend time with the Lord. The Lord is working even when you can not see it.
He wants you to surrender, lean into Him, and rest in Him. As you do this, you will begin to feel His peace and HIs presence that does not make sense in this world, but trust me, I have felt it. I want that for you!
He is God, the Creator, and He has good plans for you.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV), “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
There is no way we can even comprehend the plans of the Lord. He knows the entire picture, and His ways are higher. It is your job and my job to go to Him in prayer, to rest in Him, and trust Him. He is faithful.
John 14:26 (ESV), But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV), So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalms 46:1 (ESV), God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
These Bible verses about being confused can be your lifeline when life feels unclear.
You are created in the image of God. The Lord has good plans for you. So do not be discouraged. Life can be very hard and confusing, but this is temporary.
Could it be that this season or time in your life might be just what was needed to bring you closer to the Lord, where He can do His best work in you, teaching you to trust Him more?
I would not want to walk through my season of uncertainty again, but I know without a doubt that it made an eternal difference in my life.
God is present and ready to help guide you through this confusion.
The good news is that you can call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ anytime, anywhere. He is always there waiting to hear from you!
Pray. Read scripture. As you seek Him, do not forget to listen for the voice of the Lord. He will direct your path, and there is no better place to be than in the middle of the will of God.
When life feels unclear, anchor to the One who knows how to clear your path.
His name is Jesus.
If you would like to invite Jesus into your heart, you simply need to ask Him with a prayer.

When you pray to Jesus, it is like talking to a friend.
He has already done all the work for you and paid the price on the cross. All He asks is to have your heart, for you to believe and have faith.
You can invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior just as you are!
Lord, I come to you today as a sinner, and I invite you to come and live in my heart. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe you came to earth and lived a blameless life, were crucified on the cross, and shed your blood for me and my sins. You rose from the grave three days later and conquered death and ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me. Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, and you left me the Holy Spirit to live with me in my heart. Help guide me, Lord, and show me my next steps. Thank you for loving me, for forgiving me, and for being my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
