Be Set Free: Powerful Bible Verses About Breaking Chains
This post explores freedom in Christ, with powerful Bible Verses about breaking chains, why chains form, and steps to be set free with God's Word as our guide.

The chains feel real. They whisper lies to you over and over. They convince you that freedom is for everyone else, and keep you stuck in cycles you never chose.
It could be that you are bound by chains of addiction, shame, guilt, fear, regret, or chains of sin, to name a few. But whatever the chains of bondage are, the truth is God never intended you to carry the yoke of bondage.
God's word is designed to shatter every stronghold that holds you captive.
You might be saying, ” Sure, but that doesn't work for me. I am different.” Stick with me, because I have witnessed it firsthand, over and over. Jesus Christ has divine power. If you are not convinced, I invite you to take a few minutes. This can change your life.
Do not give up hope. Hope has a name: Jesus.
If you struggle with any of the heavy burdens of bondage, I always encourage counseling, but ultimately you will be set free through divine intervention.
Together, let's look at the Word of God, the Holy Bible; the good news is God’s Word is filled with promises that speak directly to the chains you're carrying right now. It is Biblical truth that is the exact power you need to break free. So lean into these verses, soak them in, and believe them as truth. Put your faith in Jesus because with Him you will be set free.
It is important to look at ‘why' chains form before we look at Bible verses about breaking chains.
You don't wake up one day bound by a chain. It is important to understand the ‘why'.
Why do these chains form?
Chains are made one link at a time, built link by link. They form from repeated negative thoughts, unhealed wounds, and lies you have told yourself or heard on auto-loop. Maybe guilt from past decisions keeps replaying in your mind. Or it could be that anxiety is telling you that you can't, and it is keeping you from stepping out in faith.
Chains are real. Satan is here to kill, steal, and destroy, and this is one way Satan can keep you ineffective or stuck. He gets into your mind and builds a fortress, a home, and tells you these lies over and over. In the quiet times, in every opportunity there is, Satan is there to tear you down. That is his job on earth. It is a spiritual battle between good and evil. We will look at Scripture to gain a better understanding.
Today is a new day, my friend, and it is time to understand these chains and break them free with Jesus!
John 10:10
John 10:10 (NIV), The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

These chains are actual strongholds that Satan uses and keeps you bound up. BUT there is freedom in Jesus, and those strongholds can be broken!
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV), For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Ephesians 6:12
Ephesians 6:12 (NLT), For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
God designed freedom to require His power, not your own strength. If you keep trying to break the chains by yourself, as you have probably found, it doesn't work. But when you replace the lies with the truth, surrendering your weakness for His strength, that is when you see the chains fall off.
For example, when you wake up each morning, pray, talk to the Lord, and ask for His help to give you strength and guidance.
Every Bible verse about breaking chains that you declare over your life and believe in your heart that it is truth is spiritual ammunition to wreck and tear down the fortress of strongholds that Satan has built.
Together, let's begin to be set free by looking at Bible verses about breaking chains with Biblical truths.
Lord, thank you for always being with me. I am ready to go to battle and put on the Armor of God. By faith, I believe and put my hope and trust in You. Help me to trust You when I fall short. Help me to keep my eyes on You. Lord, speak to me and help me understand as I read these Biblical truths. Speak to me as only You can. Give me wisdom in my next steps as I begin to get set free from my bondage. I am ready to find freedom in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

How to go to battle and break these chains.
The Holy Bible gives us the answers.
Since this is a Spiritual battle, you fight it one way. With the Words of God, put on the Armor of God, and go to battle. If you are not familiar with the Armor of God, you will need it to go to battle and break this chain you are carrying. You will want to read every verse slowly and not miss any parts of the Armor. Put this Armor on each morning.
One way to remember is to pray as you get dressed: ask the Lord to protect you for the day, and pray over each piece of Armor as you put it on.
The Armor Of God. Ephesians 6:13-18
Ephesians 6:13 (NLT), Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
Ephesians 6:14 (NLT), Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
Ephesians 6:15 (NLT), For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
Ephesians 6:16 (NLT), In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
Ephesians 6:17 (NLT), Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:18 (NLT), Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Common mistakes that can keep you chained.
1. Believing the chain defines you.

You are not your struggle. YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD who is in battle. Your identity is in Christ, not what you are fighting. Believe that truth and stand on it.
1 John 3:1 (NLT), See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
2. Reading these Bible verses about breaking chains, but never speaking them out loud.
There is power in speaking God's Word out loud over your life. When you declare these verses out loud, your mind processes them differently, and Satan can hear the declarations. Believe with all your heart and speak Biblical truth with authority out loud, and watch what happens.
3. Trying to break the chains alone.
God designed freedom in community. Be transparent in safe relationships; this might be a support group, your family, a friend, a life group, counseling, whatever you are most comfortable with that is safe for you to be honest and transparent. Find it.
James 5:16 (NIV), Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
4. Waiting to ‘feel free' before you act free.
Believe the truth of God's Word over your emotions. Feelings follow obedience.
Believe the Biblical truth, declare it out loud, and each day be intentional about putting on the Armor of God.
Freedom in Christ is not reserved for perfect people. It is for YOU.
Freedom does not happen by accident. It happens when you take God at His Word, and you believe with all your heart.
Choose to make today different and go to battle to break your chains with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, which lives inside of you.
Write down a few of these Bible verses about breaking chains.
Memorize them.
Believe the truth.
Declare them out loud.
Be intentional each day, and do not forget to pray with your whole heart.
Hold on to the truth and refuse to let go.

Jesus already paid the price on the cross for you. Your old self is gone. The work is done so that you can have freedom in Christ.
If you are ready to go to battle and have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can do this now.
Pray from your heart to invite Jesus into your life. Make this prayer your own.
Lord Almighty, I come to you as I am a sinner and in bondage. I want you and invite you into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me for my sins. I believe you came to earth, were born of a virgin, lived a blameless life, and were crucified on the cross. You shed your blood for me to wash away my sins. I believe you rose from the grave three days later, and when you ascended to heaven, you left the Holy Spirit to live in my heart and help guide me. Thank you for loving me, forgiving me, and giving me eternal life with You. Help me, Lord, and guide me as I begin my new life with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
If you just prayed this prayer and invited Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you just made the most important decision of your life and one that will change your eternity!
