A terminal health diagnosis, an unexpected tragedy, or the end of life can suddenly change everything when mortality presses in, and death and grief begin to grip you.
What do you do?
Where do you turn?
Do you call a friend, or a family member, or do you stop for just a moment and go to the Lord, the One who created you?
Scripture promises a life that never ends. Eternal life.
What if you anchored your faith in these verses daily and they changed the way you lived?
God loved you so much that he gave us the Holy Bible. It is a handbook for life with answers to hard questions like ‘What about eternal life?' These Bible verses are worth memorizing to anchor your faith.
Sit with me, and let's look at Bible verses about eternity and see if some of your questions can be answered.

As I write this, I pray these Bible verses will meet you where you are. I pray that you experience the presence and love of God in a way you can not shake. May the Holy Spirit speak truth over you and pour over you with love, peace, comfort, and hope of eternal life.
Before we dive into the Bible verses about eternal life, what makes the Holy Bible true?
I think this question is important to ask, especially if you are a new believer or exploring the Christian faith. Or maybe you just got a terminal diagnosis and now question what truth is, so it helps to ask what makes the Holy Bible true.
The Holy Bible was written over roughly 1,500 years by more than 40 authors from different backgrounds, cultures, and continents. It is historically accurate, reliable, consistent, and unchanging, with evidence to prove it. There were hundreds of witnesses to the events of the Bible. It has integrity from Genesis to Revelation, including prophecies written years before the events occurred. Many prophecies have already been fulfilled with perfect accuracy. There are testimonies throughout the Bible of real people and real places. It is the Living Word of God, and each time you read scripture, the Holy Spirit will speak to you. The Bible changes lives; it has changed lives for generations and continues to change lives from the inside out.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV), All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Isaiah 40:8 (NIV), The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Matthew 5:18 (NLT), I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
As always, I encourage you to seek the truth and do your research, and you will quickly discover that the Holy Bible stands apart from any other book.
If you believe the Bible is true, then Bible verses about eternal life are also true.
Friend, this life is like a vapor. It goes by quickly. Eternal life is forever.
James 4:14 (NLT), How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
The last time I checked, you can't take your money, your fame, or your possessions with you when you die, but what you can take are your friends, family, and others. God is the Creator, and he made heaven for all people. If you believe in the Bible and in Jesus, then your job is to keep your eyes on Jesus each day. Your purpose as a believer is to point people to Jesus and to be an example.
My friend was over yesterday, and she asked what I was writing about this week. I told her eternal life. She said, ‘Did you know that light travels faster than sound?' She went on to say the importance of being an example to others and letting Christ shine through you. People should be able to tell that you are a Christian before you even speak.
Matthew 5:14 (NLT), “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Be the light of this broken world, and make heaven crowded!

Bible verses about eternal life that will change your life and how you live.
Believers and non-believers have heard the verse John 3:16, so let's start there.
John 3:16 (NIV), For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This verse says it all: God loved. God gave. You believe. You live forever.
If you believe in Jesus, eternal life is yours. Not someday. Right now.

John 10:27-30 (ESV), My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
This is not just for new believers, but for Christians who need to be reminded that eternal life can't be earned. Salvation is secure, and it is about a relationship with Christ. It is not from your strength, but because of His love for YOU.
1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NIV), But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Galatians 6:7-8 (ESV), Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

1 Peter 5:10 (ESV), And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV), “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Eternal life is about a relationship with Jesus.

Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV), “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
1 John 5:11-13 (ESV), And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV), For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jude 1:20-21 (ESV), But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
Salvation is all about a relationship with Jesus Christ. To have a relationship, you first need to invite Him into your heart. And then get to know Him. You can do this by reading the Holy Bible, praying (which is talking with the Lord), and listening. I promise you, friend, your life will change, and you will experience no greater love than the love of Christ Jesus.

Revelation 21:1-6 (ESV), Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.
When you stand on these bible verses about eternal life, faith crushes fear.
Have you ever witnessed someone with HUGE faith, with no doubts?
I had the privilege of being with my grandma, who was a strong woman of faith, in her final hours. She knew that her life on earth was about to be over, but she was on the verge of stepping into eternity with her Lord and Savior! My grandma had peace, love, and hope in the Lord. She was 97 years old and fearless because of her HUGE faith in Christ.
What I witnessed in her last hours, I thought to myself, that is the kind of faith I want! Her actions spoke louder than words. Jesus was her light, and it shone through to everyone who stepped into that room. I write this as tears well up in my eyes. She fought the good fight of faith! Eternal life is real!
John 4:13-14 (ESV), Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Luke 23:43 (NLT), And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Without a doubt, my grandma is in paradise! She had full assurance in her heart about where she was headed as this life was ending. When I witnessed her faith, I wanted it. I want that same faith for you.
Stand on the promises from the Word of God, lean into these verses, and rest in Him! Jesus loves you and will not leave you…EVER!

What have you learned from these Bible verses about eternity?
Eternal life is something that can not be earned, bought, or achieved through good works.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV), For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Jesus Christ paid the price on the cross for YOU and for ME!
Salvation is a free gift.
Romans 6:23 (ESV), For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
All the Lord asks is to believe in your heart and to have faith.
Romans 10:9 (NIV), If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
He is a relational God. God is a gentleman and won't force himself on you. He is waiting to hear from you!
It does not matter what you have done or how messy your life is.
Romans 10:13 (ESV), ” For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
He wants you to trust Him.

Do you believe in your heart in the Bible verses about eternal life?
How you answer this question will change how you live your life today.
John 11:25-26 (ESV), Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
We already answered some foundational questions. There is evidence that the Bible is true. There are testimonies from the beginning of time that Jesus is Lord. With Christ, lives are changed, and chains are broken. The Lord has a place for you in eternity!
You are a citizen of heaven when Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
If you have not already, you can invite Jesus into your heart right now by simply talking to Him.
Begin today with your life with Christ for eternity!
1 John 2:25 (NIV), And this is what he promised us—eternal life.
John 14:6 (NIV), Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
A prayer for you.
Lord Jesus, I come to you with both a happy heart and a heavy heart. I thank you for being Lord of my life. The joy I have in you and your promises no man can take away. I am forever thankful for your love for me. Lord, pour over me your grace, mercy, peace, and love that only comes from you. My heart is heavy when I think about what you did for ME on the cross. You were crucified for MY sins. I can not imagine the pain you suffered and the blood you shed for me. You did this because you loved me so much; you wanted to make a way for me to have eternal life with you. Help me when I fall short in trusting you. Life is hard sometimes. Jesus, I want to point people to you so they can experience your love. Guide my steps each day so I can be an example for you. I want to have HUGE faith that people can witness, not just words. Help me to lead with love and respond in love so you can shine through me and be the light in this broken world. Thank you, Lord, for dying for my sins, for loving me, and for giving me everlasting life. In Jesus name, Amen

If you have never accepted the free gift of God, you can do so today. Jesus is waiting for you!

You can invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior just as you are!
A salvation prayer for you.
Lord God, I come to you today as a sinner, and I invite you to come and live in my heart. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe you came to earth and lived a blameless life, were crucified on the cross, and shed your blood for me. You rose from the grave three days later and conquered death and ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me. Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, and that you left me the Holy Spirit to live in my heart. Lord, help guide me, and show me my next steps. Thank you for loving me, for forgiving me, and for being my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord, for making a way for me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus name, Amen.
