Bible verses remembering what God has done

Have you ever noticed that when you are feeling discouraged, anxious, or fearful, you remember the bad things? Your mind focuses on the worst-case scenario, and you forget the good. What if you began today to be intentional about anchoring your thoughts to Bible verses about remembering what God has done?

Each morning, as soon as I wake, I pray about the day and whatever is on my heart. Then I get up, have some time alone with the Lord, and read my Bible. Next, I typically work on my blog of the week. Today, as I read, this verse jumped off the page.

Psalm 100:5 (NLT), For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

I continued to read,  Psalm 103:2 (NLT), Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

Psalm 103:3-6 (NLT), He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.

Bible verses about remembering what God has done

‘May I never forget the good things he does for me.' Then I thought about how my life would change if, each day, I became intentional about not missing a single blessing from the Lord. This might even be as simple as observing the beauty of His creation, like a red bird in my path. Over and over in scripture, the Lord reminds us to remember.

I encourage you to read or listen to the entire chapter of Psalm 103 (NLT)

There are Bible verses throughout scripture about remembering what God has done, to remind us not to forget.

The Lord is good and faithful, but what has He done for you?

When you can recount what He has done in your life and share with others, it builds faith. Your faith continues to grow when you are intentional about recognizing and remembering what the Lord has done. This also triggers your memory, so you will not forget, especially when you share it.

Some examples from my life were when I was a single mom, the Lord provided. It was a super difficult season. It was my wilderness, but it was where our faith was built. My kids witnessed God's evidence. My son would always say, Don't worry, Mom, God will provide. Over and over, the Lord provided. We received a card in the mail with the exact money we needed for a bill. When we were short on food, someone would show up with a meal. I needed a job around my kids' schedule. I received a job offer that worked around my kids' schedule.  The list can go on and on. What we learned is that the Lord is faithful, but it is my job to remember.  And to remember the Lord's timing is not our timing.

As I read the Psalms, the verse that came to my mind was Hebrews 13:8 (NIV), Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

That difficult season changed my life. It changed my perspective.

How would your life be different if you intentionally and strategically trained your heart and mind to remember what the Lord has done for you? So when you face a problem or difficult situation, you are already anchored in the truth and remember that the Lord is faithful.

If you could do one thing today that would be life-changing, would you do it? Stick with me, and this could be it.

Together, let's look at powerful Bible verses about remembering what God has done and how it can be life-changing.

Bible Verses about remembering what God has done

God left us the Word of God, the Holy Bible, as a guide and handbook for our lives. Over and over, Scripture tells us to remember. It is a reminder to be intentional and strategic to remember.

Deuteronomy 8:2 (ESV),  And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Psalm 77:11-12 (ESV), I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.

1 Chronicles 16:12 (NIV)Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced

Remembering anchors your faith, and it continues to build. It is a tool for survival in those hard times, to recount what the Lord has done and not believe the lies that Satan wants you to believe that God has abandoned you. To remember is a weapon against doubt and fear.

The Bible left us accounts that are not just stories, but history. We can start with that, then move to our own lives and witness the Lord's faithfulness.

You might be going through a hard trial right now. If you are not, enjoy this season, and remember these Bible verses, because someday you will need them.  When you put your trust in Jesus, you can no longer be shaken by this world. You are a child of God and belong to the Kingdom of God.

Jesus Christ is sovereign, your inheritance is secure, and your eternity is settled.

Bible verses about remembering what God has done tell us ways to help us remember.

Luke 22:19 (ESV),  And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

The Lord said, ‘Do this in remembrance of me'. He did not want us to forget, so he showed us, through communion, something tangible to remember as a reminder of the cross, what Jesus did for you and for me. He shed His blood on the cross and paid the price for our sins.

1 Corinthians 11:26 (NLT), For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.

Communion is a tangible way of reminder what He has done for you and me. His sacrifice. All He asks in return is to believe, trust Him, and have faith. The Lord will come again!

Colossians 1:13-14 (NLT),  For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.

Joshua 4:6-7 (NLT), We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord ’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.”

Psalms 77:11-12 (NLT), But then I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.

Exodus 13:3 (ESV), Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the LORD brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

Bible verses show us the power of remembering.

Bible verses remembering what the God has done

Lamentations 3:21-23 (NLT), Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

Philippians 1:3-4 (NIV)I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

When you remember, you define reality by the unchanging character of God.

Remembrance is your weapon. You call to mind what God has done, who God is, and what God has promised.

Let these verses train your heart to remember, because the God who did it then is the same God who will do it again.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV), So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 23:4 (ESV), Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

When you remember, you have hope. Hope has a name, and it is Jesus. Hope is eternal, and love never fails!

Ways to help you remember what God has done for you.

Psalms 103:2 (NLT), Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

1. Create tangible ways of remembering.

This might be a photo, a date, a song, something tangible that will point you back to remember when doubt creeps in, what the Lord has done for you.

2. Write it down.

Prayer journals are powerful. When you journal, write down what you prayed about and when the prayer was answered; that is power. A fantastic reminder of how faithful the Lord is and how He will be faithful again.

3. Create traditions.

You can create weekly, monthly, or yearly family traditions about God's faithfulness. Look back and share what the Lord has done. As a family, couple, or even individually, you can look back each week. This will help create a more intentional environment in which you are aware of the Lord's faithfulness. The story is the lesson. The memory is the result.

People need to hear your story, your testimony, and you need to share it to remember it. There might be someone waiting to hear your story of what God has done to help them with their journey of faith. Don't miss the blessing the Lord has given you by keeping it inside. Write it down, be intentional about remembering it, and share it!

If you have kids, be transparent and share with them so that they can witness the evidence of God in your life. Passing it down to your children creates a legacy that is far greater than anything you can give them.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV), Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”

God is faithful. He has always been faithful. And remembering that changes everything.

Choose the way to help you remember that works best for you. Just remember!

When the Lord Carried Me, is a book I wrote about my testimony and what happened that changed my life and my faith. I never would want to walk through that season again, but I believe it made an eternal difference in my life. I never want to forget how the Lord was so faithful when I was at the bottom of the pit.

If you have never invited Jesus into your life, you can do that today.

The Lord asks for your heart, to believe, have faith, and to put your trust in Him alone. It costs you nothing and is a free gift of God.

You can invite Jesus into your heart with a prayer.

Lord God, I come to you today as a sinner. I want you to live in my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I believe that Jesus came to earth and lived a blameless life, was crucified on the cross, and shed His blood for me for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins, Lord. I believe you rose three days later and ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me to give me eternal life with you. When you ascended to heaven, you left me the Holy Spirit to live in my heart. Please help me and guide me as I live for you. Lord, I do not want to miss a single blessing you have for me and help me to remember each of those blessings. Thank you for loving me and forgiving me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Inviting Jesus to live in your heart is the most important decision of your life. One that will not just change your life here on earth, but will make an eternal difference.
