Do You Want To Stand Out? Clothe Yourself In Love
This post is all about how to stand out in a world of chaos. To clothe yourself in love is about a command that changes everything.
Love breaks all languages and all barriers.
It does not matter how much money you have, because love costs no money. Love is the one thing that can change everything.
Do you want to stand out? No one remembers what you wore or what you said. You are remembered by how you made them feel.
Love is the one thing that actually matters in life. Everyone wants to be loved and feel loved.
Begin today, clothe yourself in love, and learn how to truly begin a new life of love.
Take a few minutes today, and let's look together at how to clothe yourself in love.

I was a single mom of three for nine years. I struggled and had many difficult times, like many of you today. The hard truth is that life is hard, and no one ever promised life would be easy.
My girlfriend would always remind me that actions speak louder than words. I did not have much money, but the one thing I had was love.
To clothe yourself in love is one thing that, no matter who you are, where you come from, what you are walking through, or your economic status, you can do and are called to do.
God's word says in Colossians 3:12-13 (NIV), “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
The Apostle Paul goes further, saying, ‘above all, clothe yourself with love.'
Colossians 3:14-17 (NLT), “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”
When you clothe yourself in love, it is the command that changes you.
Clothing yourself in love means how you present yourself to the world, what a person sees first when they meet you. It is how you enter conflict, how you respond when someone wrongs you, and how people experience your presence.
1 John 4:8 (NIV), “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:16 (NIV), “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

What does ‘clothe yourself in love' mean?
My grandma, who loved more than words can describe, used to always tell me, ‘God did not create you to be a doormat.'
To love does not make you a doormat. You do not allow people to walk all over you. It does not mean you are not able to set boundaries.
It does not mean you tolerate abuse or ignore sin.
Jesus loved perfectly, lived a blameless life, but He did not tolerate abuse or agree to sin. He stood up for the truth and even flipped tables.
Ephesians 4:15 (NIV), “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
Love is not pretending everything is fine. It is being honest, speaking truth in love, but it does not tear people down, devalue, or degrade.
Love is an action; it is not a feeling, but a responsibility. The way you live, the way Jesus lived.
God is love.
To clothe yourself in love is instructions for Christian living.
Colossians 3:14 (NIV), “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Stand out from the crowd and have God's love shine through you. Be the light in the body of Christ and wear love today.
Begin the day with prayer, before you get out of bed. Ask for direction and pray about your day.
When your feet hit the floor, then put on your new wardrobe, the wardrobe God gave you, and wrap it all together with love, the perfect bond of unity. Waking up and showing your commitment everyday to live as Christ lived.
To clothe yourself in love is like a football player. A commitment to his team, to be ready to play, physically, mentally prepared, and fully dressed on game day. This is when a football player has prepared, trained, and is wearing all his pads, and he completes his attire with his team uniform. It holds everything in place and binds everything together.
Love is the bond of perfectness, like a football player is not complete without the team uniform holding all the pads in place and completing the attire.
As you walk through your day, you will want to lead with love.
How you present yourself in a room, how you respond to life.
It is a deliberate choice, even if you do not feel that way inside, for example, if someone is rude to you, or if you are cut off in traffic. Be calm and let Christ shine through you. You are to clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and love covers over it all, binding it together.

Stand out from the crowd, clothe yourself in love, and let peace rule your heart.
Colossians 3:15 (NLT), “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
Be the change this world desperately is searching for: love and peace.
Think about when you meet people. When does a person stand out from the crowd to you, and you remember them? I believe it is how a person makes you feel when they stand out, and you remember them. Those feelings may be positive or negative. But ultimately, it is the feeling you get and how they made you feel.
Allow the Holy Spirit to be your guide each day. Read God's word. Pray and love others as Christ loves you.
We are also called to have a grateful heart. Have you ever been around someone who complains all the time and is so ungrateful…ugh…it is exhausting. It seems to me that more and more people are unhappy, not content, and people tend to find the negative in everything.
When you have a grateful heart and live with gratitude, your response to life will be different. Your perception of everything changes, and your day is much brighter. You have more peace and a much happier life when you are grateful for the little and simple things in life, not just the big things.
Stand out today in this world of chaos. Clothe yourself in love, and have the love and peace of Christ shine through you, with a grateful heart.

Whether you are in public or private, represent the love of Christ.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV), “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…”
2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV), “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
1 John 4:19 (NIV), “We love because he first loved us.”
Ephesians 4:15-16 (NIV), “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
Love is the bond of perfection.
Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV), “You were taught, about your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV), “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
Be an ambassador for Christ today. Not a Christian on Sundays, but clothe yourself in love, be the message of Christ that people can tell you are a Christian because of your fruit, both in your home and out in the crowd.
Have the Holy Bible be your guide to life.
1 Corinthians 13 is a love chapter. I encourage you to read it.
Be the change this world is looking for and be the representatives of the new humanity.
The message of Christ is clear, we are called to love.
This way of living won't happen overnight. You will have to start with intentional choices.
Pray when you wake up. Pray throughout the day. Before you enter a room, before you respond, before an encounter with someone, pray. Allow the love of Christ to be your guide. You will have to be intentional, not just when you wake, but throughout the day.
It may be helpful to write down Colossians 3:12-17 or some other love verses. When you are pressed and in a situation of chaos, rehearse these verses in your mind before you respond. The more you do, the more natural your response of love will become.
It is important to remember that you are the only one responsible for your actions, so it is up to you to represent love, be the light of this world, and stand out.
If you mess up, then own it, ask for forgiveness, and do better. Each day of being intentional to clothe yourself in love is progress.
When you clothe yourself with love, your daily life will gradually change. Sometimes it is easy not to see the whole picture in life, but when you keep your eyes on Jesus rather than on things of this world, it helps keep your perspective. It will not only change you, but also change everyone around you.
You will become a presence that no one will forget.
So…stand out and clothe yourself in love today!
If you are ready to clothe yourself in love and have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Jesus Christ loved you so much that He came to earth and shed His blood for you and me.
John 3:16 (NIV), ” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
There is no greater gift. The Lord already paid the price for you. All He asks is for you to believe, trust Him, have faith, and show the world love as Jesus did.

A prayer for you to invite Jesus into your heart.
Dear Lord, I know I am a sinner, and I am ready to change my life. I believe you are the only true God, and I invite you to come and live in my heart. You came to earth, lived a blameless life, were crucified, and shed your blood for me on the cross for my sins. I believe you rose from the grave and conquered death and ascended to heaven, where you are preparing a place for me. I ask for your forgiveness, and I am ready to live a new life for you. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins. Lord, I want to love like you. Thank you for loving me and showing me how to love. Thank you for being my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you just prayed and invited Jesus Christ into your heart, we are all celebrating with you!
Your life will be changed from the inside out.
You will find free resources on my Grow Your Faith page to help you take the next steps in your new life with Christ.
It would be a privilege to pray for you. Please share your decision to have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and go to my Rooted In Prayer page and fill out the form provided. There is a team of people who will be praying for you and celebrating with you!
Music is a gift and is powerful.
Colossians 3:16 (NLT), “Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.”
A song can help refocus you on things above. Music can change your entire day and your attitude.
At home, we have K-Love radio playing 24/7. It always amazes me how songs have perfect timing and can speak to you throughout the day. I encourage you to have the message of Christ fill your home and your car. The encouraging music will change your day, your attitude, and your life.
Love God, Love People, a powerful song by Danny Gokey, is a reminder not just to love God, but also to love people.
A prayer for you.
Colossians 3:17 (NIV), “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Dear Lord, I come to you today with a thankful heart. Thank you for loving me and teaching me how to love. Thank you for always being there and for your tender mercies. Lord, I pray that when people see me, they see You in me. I want to live my life in such a way that I am an example of your love. I pray that they feel your love through me because You live in me. Help me be who You created me to be, in Your image and as an ambassador for You. Each day, I want to be fully clothed with your compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Lord, help me to bind it all together with Your love that shines through me. Lord, I want ‘love' to be how people experience me when I lead, handle conflict, and present myself to others each day. I give my life to you. I pray for people to remember who I am from the first time they meet me, because of who You are. Lord, help me to forgive as you forgive me. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus name, Amen.
I pray this post spoke to you and your day is filled with the love of Christ.
